We were in France from 3rd Sept to the 18th Oct 2002. We crossed the channel from Plymouth to Roscoff in Britany and left for Italy by the Col de Agnel.
France is just great for cycling, the roads are quiet, the drivers fairly courteous, lots of campsites and good food. Loads of other stuff has been written about cycling in France so I am just going to say "Go there".
