Krabi to Satun

17th - 24th September 2004

Our first stop after Krabi was the "Hot stream" by Klong Thom. Here we bathed in a sizeable stream of bath temperature water and spent the night bivied in a nearby pagoda. Next night we bivied again, this time in a bus shelter because there were no hotels to be found and it was getting late. We normally camp, but we stopped to rest in the bus shelter and then it came on to rain heavily. It was horrible weather for camping so we just hung our mosquito net in the bus shelter! During the night it rained more than ever and the next day when we visited a waterfall we almost had to swim just to see it!

We spent a day in Trang and met an Australian cycling couple who had ridden there from Ho Chi Min city via China and Laos (send us an email if you're reading this!). Then we did two long days through pretty limestone scenery but on a busy highway to Satun. Here is a greener-than-green paddy field in the sunshine:

From Satun we took the ferry to Langkawi in Malaysia, country number thirteen!
